This is the award-winning dual purpose tool (invented and manufactured by Mick Davis of Warialda in northern New South Wales) to make life on the land just that little bit easier. It has two functions.

Primarily, it minimises back strain for people who normally lift timber or roll logs (for example; to achieve the second cut with a chainsaw). The Davis Starlifter enables you to elevate the log, and execute the cut in one smooth action with the operator remaining in an upright position. The Starlifter's superior design is a result of extensive testing in the field. The tool weighs only 8 kg yet can lift 1500 kg vertically.

All this without you having to bend and it allows you to lift logs (60-600 mm diameter) 250-300 mm off the ground with ease (alleviating any chainsaw damage that may occur through rock or soil contact).

Secondly, it lifts starposts vertically out of the ground alleviating bending damage and consequently saves the cost of post replacement. A further feature of the Davis Starlifter is that it allows adjustments to be made, whilst the fence is still intact, and the operator in an upright position.

All components are made of high quality plated steel and will give a long service life. The main lifting component is made of Bisalloy using the same technology used for armour steel plating in defence and civil applications.

Our customers are not only woodcutters and fencers, orders have come from councils for road works (including removing posts from bitumen) and for cleaning up fallen trees after storms. When Fire departments used them for cleanup operations, they were able to elevate a still smouldering log or tree and hose underneath it to prevent fires restarting. Other interests include electricity companies for capping power poles, hobby farmers, contract fencers, commercial woodcutters or just someone moving the odd trailer load of firewood for themselves.
